Medicinal plants from Morocco, under analytical chemistry
PhD candidate at Mohammed V University. I work on essential oils and their antifungal activity. Measuring these compounds matters as much as isolating them. That's why I built PhytoNote, an offline app that follows you into labs without a network.
Research areas
Three connected threads, from the plant in the field to a measurable compound.
Essential oils
Hydrodistillation, ultrasound extraction, GC-MS and NMR characterization. What I'm after: what these oils actually do once isolated, not just what they contain.
Nano-formulations
Encapsulating an essential-oil active so it stays stable and bioavailable. Without rigorous upstream dosing you don't really know what you're encapsulating. That's where analytical chemistry earns its keep.
Antifungal activity
Measuring the real effect on specific strains. Eight UV assays (DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, CAT, TPC, TFC, ANTIBAC, ANTIINF) calibrated for this, run from PhytoNote when the series get long.
